"Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip I'll be talking about maintenance in cleaning of block planes. When cleaning the block planes, I always like to take some compressed air and clean off all of the components. Next what I like to do is take apart the block plane. This is going to allow you to clear the mouth and the throat of your block plane. Once this is disassembled, I like to give my components a visual inspection just to make sure everything looks alright and make sure it's not cracked or broken. Additionally I like to test all of my adjustment knobs just to verify that they are working properly also. Lastly you want to check your iron to make sure that the blade is nice and sharp here. It looks like there is a small pit on the blade. In this case you probably want to sharpen that to remove that."
