"Hi! I'm Drew Finn and I am here for expertvillage.com. I am a professional home inspector and I am going to show you how to install a ceiling fan today. We are doing the wiring now. We are going to connect the wires up. Got the white to the white, we've already tucked away the blue so we are not using it and what we do is we twist them together and clockwise, it's got to be in a clockwise direction and then we screw on the wire nut. We repeat that for the black wire, we twist it clockwise so we've got two wires together and then we put on the wire nut and that will hold everything together. When you are done screwing down the wire now, tug on each of the wires. You want to make sure you have a good connection there so we have connected the white and neutral and the black which is the hot. The last thing we have to do is equipment ground; green wire that was on the base and we are going to connect that to the bare wire that it came out of the box. So again on these we want to twist in a clockwise direction as you are facing. If you are looking right down on the wire, we twist those together and we take the wire and screw it down. When it is good and smoked you pull on it and make sure that it is going to stay there. Now we've got the wires all connected, we want to make sure when we push them all up end, we don't pinch anything. So what we do very carefully tuck them away so they are not going to be crunched or pinched in any way. So get them all tucked in. We'll tuck some up inside of the original box where the blue wire is but these you want to twist around and get inside the cup. Now we are going to be able to connect that cup. The next step is how we actually do connected that cup. So that's the very next thing that we will do. "
