"Hi! I'm Cathi Pare with the City of Santa Barbara Water Conservation Department speaking to you today for expertvillage.com. We are running around the house at this point. We are looking at high efficiency features. Right now we are in the bathroom. There are a couple of key things to look for. When you are looking for leaks and looking for efficiency and savings of water, you want to be sure you have what is known as a aerator on your sink. They are kind of hard to get out. This is basically what it is. It is a filter program that irrigates the water, you can turn the volume of the water down, you get the same quantity feeling but in actuality you are using less. You want to be sure when you come in to check your bathrooms that you have efficient fixtures in the shower. Everything is low flow now days. The majority of them are very nice shower techniques. Some of them are those huge big ones. Those are running about 5 gallons a minute. That is not water efficient. They are called ring forest showers. There are other features within the bathroom to look for that really save water. There are high efficiency toilets that run with 1.28 gallons of water. They are not your mother's low flow toilets. These are high quality, very successful toilets. The majority of them are 1.6 low flow toilets and in our next segment we are going to look at how to look for a leak because that is our number one unrecognized water loss in the house. "
