Video Transcript

"One of the favorite activities for celebrating Kwanzaa is a Kwanzaa chant called harambe', which means pulling together. And what we do, we ask everyone to reach up and pull down together towards your heart. And each time you reach up and pull down you say, "harambe'" and you do that seven times in honor of the seven principles. And, on the seventh time, you hold harambe' as long as you can and when you run out of breath you applaud until the next person runs out of breathe and everyone applauds, applauds and applauds until the last person runs out of breathe. And we all applaud together. Pulling together, working together, harambe'. Here we go, ready, umoja. Let's go, harambe', harambe', harambe', harambe', harambe', harambe', harambe'."
