Series Summary

Wrapping has been a part of giving gifts for centuries. It makes the act of giving a gift to someone that much more enjoyable because it is allows both the person receiving and the person giving to see one another's reactions at the moment the gift it revealed. This way both parties are privy to the joy instead of only the person receiving. Gift wrapping seems so ingrained in our society that we look forward to days like Christmas and birthdays partially because of opening a gift or two.

In this series you will learn several tips and techniques for not only wrapping odd shaped packages but also creative instruction on how to make your gift stand out among the sea of other presents. This expert will give you several unique gift ideas for family members and friends and guide you on how to make those gifts look great including ways to use ribbon you never thought of before as well as how to use household items to wrap with instead of expensive wrapping paper.

Video Transcript

"Have you ever had one of those days where you went shopping and found the perfect birthday present. Then came home to wrap it to find that all you have is Christmas paper? Or worse, been on your way to a baby shower and found that everything you have is just big bold dark colors for like Father's Day. Well I'm here to help you. I'm going to rescue you with some great wrapping ideas on how you can use things you already have around the house to wrap your presents in a really cool way. So that they don't look like afterthoughts but like creative expressions. So for this first project we're going to make little tote bags that you can put your presents in. Isn't this darling? This will be for a woman's present and maybe you can do something for Dad or your husband. So cute and so easy to make. Here's all you'll need to get started. You want to get assembled some string to make the handles with and of course you'll need scissors. Regular scotch tape will work. And if you've got a glue stick that might come in handy. If you've got a scrapbooking paper cutter, awesome. If not, that's okay too. I use a Jello box or something about this size to shape the bags so grab one of those out of the kitchen. And then of course you're going to need a magazine. I like fashion magazines. But if you got just a magazine with recipes and things like that, that will work too. You want something with nice, cool brightly colored photographs that will make a cute design on your bag. Now that we've got everything together in the next clip I'll show you how you can make your bag."
