"Hi! My name is Adolph Ramirez from Tampa, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, this is how to install a ceiling fan. After you have the fan mounts securely fastened, the next step is to hang up your fan. As I said previously, there is a notch on the down rod ball. I'll show you the notch here if you can see it. There is a little notch right here. The pin that is located right here on the bracket should fall right into that notch. That will keep the fan from spinning and also lower the fan slightly so you can put your remote control unit which I will show you in a few seconds. What you do is lift it up, hang it on there. Okay got the fan up and just spin it slightly until it drops. That tells you that the pin fell into the little notch that is right there. Make sure also when you have a slope roof like this one that you have enough clearance for your blades to spin. Otherwise, you will have to get a much longer down rod. Maybe a foot, 6 inches or whatever. This one here is approximately 4 inches. "
