"Hi! This is Kay on behalf of expertvillage.com and we are here at Carter's Appliance in Fontana, California. One of the differences may be when you look at the interior of a refrigerator, for instance on Maytag product, the configuration of the shelving may be slightly different from a Whirlpool. Functionally, they are the same. It is the configuration of the interior that is going to be different and also the location of the filtered water system if you have incoming water to the refrigerator to the ice and the water dispenser. Some of them have the housing for the water filter in the interior of the refrigerator in the fresh food section. Others have the water filter located near the bottom below any freezer compartment that may be there. Those are some of the similar differences in the refrigerator. "
