How to Cut Sides for Upright Bookshelf

"Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, we will be cutting out our sides. Our first cut will be at 9 1/4 inches wide. We are going to end up making 4 of those cuts for our oak bookshelves and 4 of those cuts for our painted bookshelves. I've set up my table saw to 9 1/4 inches wide and now I am going to make my cuts. Next I am going to cross cut my sides at 6 feet. You might notice that I doubled up my boards. I have two boards here that I am going to cut at once. This is going to speed it up a little bit so I am going to only have to make half as many cuts. If you do this, you want to make sure that your boards are lined up at each end. Otherwise your boards will be cut to different lengths. Now that we have our sides cut, we have 4 oak sides and 4 of the cabinetry grade plywood sides. "
