Hi, my name is Autumn Wintersgill, and today we are going to talk about how to knit a hairband. You can make a hairband. You can make a hairband or a headband very simply just by knitting a flat strip of fabric and sewing it together with a wool needle at the end. So measure around the person's head that you are making the hairband for and then make a gauge swatch and count how many stitches you can make in that number of inches. Then multiply your gauge by that number of inches to get your number of stitches. Cast on that number of stitches and knit across in several rows until you have the depth of the hairband that you want. After that, bind off all your stitches and you will take the two sides, your selvage edges and you are going to sew them together so just fold your work in half with right sides facing and then as you can see here, I've just sewn up the inside and turned it inside out and you have a hairband.
