Hi, my name is Autumn Wintersgill, and today we're going to talk about how to knit a clutch. A clutch is a small purse that you can keep small items like extra makeup, your keys and your phone in when you go to a dance or a special occasion. So to knit a clutch like this one which is very simple, we're going to use some worsted weight yarn and size 10 needles. I like to use a long tail cast on and as we are knitting this we are going to be knitting both sides of the top of the bag so we're going to be knitting these two parts. The rest of the bag is going to be sewn up the sides and then you can choose to line it afterwards if you would like to. After you finish casting on the number of stitches that you would like for your clutch, turn and start knitting. So after you've knitted a few rows you can start your particular pattern that you want to make, just making sure that it looks the same on both ends of your work. So you will have a flat piece that resembles a scarf and after you are done knitting the entire piece as you can see on the sides, we have a seam and what you'll do is you will take a wool needle and some yarn and thread that yarn through your needle and then you will take your entire project and fold it in half with the right sides facing together so your pattern sides are going to be facing together. Then you'll take both edges which are going to be the sides of the bag on the inside and you will just sew up the side of the bag, sewing both bags together going through both layers of fabric. So there we have our clutch.
