Game Ideas for a Baby Shower for a Girl

Planning a baby girl's baby shower is fun and challenging at the same time. In addition to the invitations, decorations and gifts, it is exciting to add a few games to the party. Games are available for purchase; however, they can be quite pricey. Try some of these games at your next girl's baby shower for half the price of retail games.

My Water Broke Game

  • Buy a small package of plastic babies, which you can find at most retail stores or a party favor store. Buy the ones with pink diapers, and these will need to be small enough to each fit inside a square of an ice cube tray. Put a baby in each of the squares, fill with water and freeze. Once you are ready for the game, pull out the ice tray and hand each participant an ice cube. The object is to suck on the ice cube and be the first to get your plastic baby free. The first person to get their baby out of the ice and yell, "My water broke!" wins the game.

Ring A Bell Game

  • Ring a bell will help guests get to know each other at the party, as well as create an exciting game during the shower. The host controls this game by ringing a bell every 10 to 15 minutes during the party (less or more often is fine, depending on how many gifts you want to hand out). When the bell rings, the host announces a question or statement such as, "I need the person with the most ink on," or "the person dressed most like the expectant mother." Whoever this person is wins a small gift. This gift can be a baby gift as well, which the winner would in turn give to the expectant mother. This is another way for the mommy-to-be to receive more gifts.

Clothespin Game

  • Buy a bag of clothespins, and as guests walk in, give them each a clothespin. Many people play the clothespin game by setting the rule that the guests cannot say the word "baby." If the word "baby" is said, the person who catches that person saying the forbidden word gets that person's clothespin. At the end of the shower, the person with the most clothespins wins the game. If a participant says a forbidden word and has multiple clothespins, she only has to give up one at a time. For a twist for a girl baby shower, tell guests that they cannot say the word "cute" or "pretty." These two words are often said when looking at cute and pretty girl clothes.
