Flyers are used for advertising as an inexpensive way to reach a target audience, getting the message out quickly and effectively. Successful flyers will get your audience's attention and make them want to more information. Get their attention from the start. A flyer may be a standard page size or something smaller, like an index card. The flyers themselves are not free, because they must be printed before distributing; however, distribution does not have to eat into your advertising budget.
Print your flyers in a specific shape. If you are advertising a new smoothie, create a flyer that looks like a smoothie at the top. The body of the flyer should include all of the vital information, but the top should get the customer’s attention. Make it colorful and easily identifiable to the product you are trying to advertise.
Attach a flyer to a particular product. A dental office may attach a flyer to packages of candy warning about the dangers of too much sugar and not brushing properly. Ask a friend or local merchant if you can use their product to attach the flyers so it won’t cost any additional revenue. This flyer advertising will take time to attach to the product, but it can be highly effective. You have a specific target audience with the intended message on the top of their mind.
Place the flyer on a vehicle in the parking lot. This can be done at a shopping center, market or special event. Placing flyers on vehicles is often done by churches, non-profit groups, professional organizations, etc. This type of advertising is not usually as effective, because there is no way to ensure the intended audience even looks at the flyer.
Door to Door
Placing an advertisement flyer in the door of someone’s home may increase the visibility of a local organization or business. Ask a friend to accompany you for safety. You are able to target the potential customers or participants in the vicinity of your place of business or association. This will also enable you to target a particular group according to economic status or ethnic orientation. Do not place flyers in mail boxes because this is illegal.
Stand in a highly visible space such as a special event, an intersection or outside a local retail outlet and hand your flyers out to passersby. This will give you an opportunity to speak with those people to ensure your flyer is being handed to the intended target audience. This will save you from distributing flyers to those who are not interested. This method of distribution will require permission from the shop owner and organizer of the special event, but many will grant permission to non-profit organizations.
