Use white lights inside a glass block to make decorations.

You can use glass blocks to make beautiful decorative accents for indoors or outdoors. They are available with a pre-drilled hole to insert a strand of lights or other objects into the block. Making a customized decoration from a glass block is easy, and it makes a memorable gift.

  1. Christmas Gift

    • Use a square-shaped glass block with a hole drilled in one of the sides. Insert a string of white lights along with a filler (a piece of tulle will work). Wrap a wide holiday-themed ribbon around the glass block and tie in a bow on top to make it look like a Christmas gift. Make a few of them to group together for a festive holiday decoration.

    Garden Lights

    • Make outdoor garden lights from various sized glass blocks. The drilled hole must be in the back of the block so that it can stand upright along the garden walkway. Decorate the front of the glass block by gluing pieces of colored glass in a pattern. Insert a strand of white lights into the block and light up your garden or patio.

    Wedding Gift

    • Create a meaningful wedding gift by putting a silk flower inside the glass block, some tulle for filler and a strand of white lights. Use vinyl lettering on the outside of the glass block to spell out a word, a quote or the last name of the new couple.
