Homemade Halloween Baby Doll Costume Ideas

Let your inner child shine at your next Halloween costume party by dressing up as a favorite child's toy. A purchased baby doll costume can easily cost as much as $50. You can make your own baby doll costume at home for far less, mostly with items that you have around the house. Depending on your choices, your baby doll costume can be sexy, cute, or downright comedic.

Pajama Baby Doll

  • Footie pajamas and a receiving blanket are all you need to dress up as a baby doll ready for a bedtime story. A little rouge on your cheeks and pink or red lipstick to create pouty baby lips will add to the doll-like feeling of your Halloween costume. Shop around for an over-sized baby bottle or pacifier to hang around your neck and finish off the costume with a homemade folded hanging tag printed with an "adoption certificate" to go with the toy look.

Sexy Baby Doll Costume

  • Sweet and innocent can be surprisingly sexy when you dress it up right. Pull together a sexy baby doll costume from a lace-trimmed pinafore or babydoll pajama top and a pair of rumba panties with ruffles across the bottom. Add lacy ankle socks and a pair of ballerina flats, and wear a bracelet of alphabet beads spelling out your name. Finish the look off with long ringlets and exaggerated makeup to play up the doll face look. This sexy baby doll costume takes on a whole new dimension when a guy wears it, but it's still a real attention-grabber.

Newborn Baby Doll Costume

  • The trickiest part of dressing up as a newborn baby doll for Halloween is the hair. Most newborn dolls only have molded hair if they have any at all, so pull on a purchased bald "wig" or make your own from flesh-colored knit fabric. Pick up adult-size disposable diapers at the store, or create fabric diapers from cheesecloth or soft white cotton and an over-sized safety pin. If you can't find a snap-front tee shirt, create your own by cutting a tee down the center front and adding the snaps yourself. String a candy pacifier on a ribbon and hang it around your neck to finish up your costume.

Boxed Baby Doll

  • Make your baby doll costume more authentic by adding a box made of cardboard and plastic wrap. Cut a front and back from colored cardboard or poster board. Cut out the front, leaving a frame four to six inches wide. Some plastic wrap or clear cellophane taped over the opening makes a reasonable imitation of the cellophane window on a doll box. Attach the front and back of the box at the shoulders and wear it over any of the preceding baby doll costumes.
