Choosing the right finger food for parties is necessary to keep hungry guests happy. A "Star Wars" themed party can include some standard finger foods, but should also include some theme-specific items on the menu. Even drinks can take on a "Star Wars" theme. For example, create Yoda soda by adding lime green sherbet to clear colored lemon lime pop along with some lime slices and sugar.
"Lightsaber" Finger Foods
Add pieces of vegetables and meat chucks to a skewer. Barbecue the skewers and then set them on a plate with a label near it that reads, "Lightsabers." Fruit kabobs, hot dogs or bread sticks can also be Lightsabers. Guests can create their own "Lightsabers" with a fondue station. Have chocolate and cheese fondue options for guests.
Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables make excellent finger foods for parties. They are easy to eat without utensils and are a good choice for those who are on a diet or who simply want to eat healthier. Carve vegetables and fruits into shapes that fit a Star Wars themed party. For instance, carve an apple, among other fruits and vegetables, into a sphere to resemble the "Death Star." Cut a watermelon in half and put the two ends together to create a sphere. Use a photo of the "Death Star" as reference, and add the appropriate geometric line pattern.
Other "Star Wars" Finger Foods
Create a dip that resembles the soup eaten by Yoda on Dagobah. Create a bean dip which will resemble the soup and top it with crumbled tortilla chips to resemble the leaves. Any finger food can turn into a Star Wars themed food by adding clever food labels. Dip chips in "Skywalker" salsa and instead of eating hamburger sliders, invite guests to eat "planets."
"Star Wars" Desserts
Bake or buy cookies and frost the tops with dark blue icing. Use yellow icing to pipe on the Star Wars logo. Add a few yellow stars to the cookie tops for added decoration. Create the faces of the characters of Star Wars on the tops of frosted cupcakes. Use various colored icing to create Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. To create a Princess Leia cupcake, create the image of her face on the top of a cupcake and attach two chocolate cookies to the sides of the cake to resemble her famous hair-do. To create an R2D2 cupcake, stack three cupcakes together using incing and a skewer down the middle to keep it from shifting. Cover all three cakes in white icing and use blue and silver icing to create a likeness of the robot.
