Good Places to Have Birthday Parties in San Jose, California


San Jose is in northern California's Silicon Valley and offers birthday party venues for children and adults. For adults, the city has restaurants with banquet rooms and museum gallery spaces. Children have access to amusement parks, outdoor picnic areas and the Children's Discovery Museum in downtown San Jose. Some venues allow parties to bring their own birthday cake.


  • Downtown San Jose is home to Scott's Seafood (, which offers views of the San Jose skyline and Silicon Valley from the sixth floor of 425 Park Avenue. This fine dining restaurant hosts birthday parties of 15 to 80 guests in its banquet room. Scott's requires parties of 15 or more to use the banquet menu.

    19 Market ( is a Vietnamese restaurant in downtown San Jose, located on Market Street. Birthday parties may use the restaurant's banquet room, which accommodates approximately 80 guests in a banquet-style setting. The restaurant also rents out its main dining room, which hosts 50 guests. A banquet menu is available for parties.


  • Children may have their birthday parties at the Children's Discovery Museum (, or CDM, in downtown San Jose, right off the Guadalupe Parkway. CDM's summer birthday packages include 60 to 90 minutes in the museum's party room, cheese pizza, all-day admission into the museum and a gift bag for birthday guests. The package covers 12 children.

    The Tech Museum (, a downtown San Jose institute, features exhibits with a focus on technological sciences. For birthday parties, the Museum offers the Innovation Gallery and Life Tech Gallery; these two venues host intimate parties of 25 guests or extravagant events for approximately 2,500 guests. The Tech Museum's restaurant, Cafe Primavera, offers catering.

  • The Happy Hollow Park and Zoo ( is in the heart of San Jose's Kelley Park. This zoological park hosts kids birthday parties in outdoor venues such as the Big Red Fire Truck party area and Danny's Party Place. Big Red Fire Truck is a fireman-themed venue with a seating capacity of 80 guests, while Danny's features dragon-themed décor and seats 60 guests.

    Emerald Hills Golfland ( is in southern San Jose, across the street from the Oakridge Mall. This amusement park provides an 18-hole miniature golf course, water slides and a video game arcade center. Each birthday package offers two slices of pizza, soft drinks and a free miniature golf pass for the birthday guest. Birthday parties have access to Emerald Hills party area for two hours.


  • The Emma Prusch Farm Park ( is in eastern San Jose, right off the Sinclair Freeway. This 47-acre farm park has an open-air pavilion for birthday parties. The pavilion has barbecue grills and accommodates up to 300 guests. Emma Prusch does not allow vehicles onto its property and the park is closed on Mondays.

    San Jose's Chinese Cultural Garden ( is a 33-acre park in the eastern region of the city, within walking distance of Capitol Square Mall. Small birthday parties of 10 to 15 guests occur in the Garden's Plum Pavilion. No loud music or entertainer may come to this venue for parties.
