Decorative Accent Ideas for Coffee-Themed Kitchens

Decorating your kitchen with a theme can make it feel more inviting to you, your friends and family. Choose a theme that instantly makes you smile, such as coffee, if you love the color, smell, taste or look of it. Establish the coffee theme in your kitchen with detailed accents and accessories that complement your decorating style.

Color

Coffee comes in an array of warm shades from light beige to a deep, dark brown. Use those colors to accent a plain white kitchen. Paint the walls around your white cabinets in a dark espresso brown, and use the same shade of brown as an accent in other areas of the kitchen. For example, set out dark brown canisters on the counter if the counters are light, hang dark brown coffee mugs under the cabinets and put fresh white flowers in dark brown vases. Use various shades of brown, and mix in coffee-specific terms or images, such as a coffee bean plant or artwork and dishes with words such as "espresso" or "latte."

Nothing But Beans

Use actual coffee bean accents throughout your kitchen if you enjoy the look, texture or smell of coffee beans. Fill clear jars of various heights and widths with different kinds of beans. Leave the jars open if you want the aroma of the beans, or use air-tight lids if you plan to grind the beans for fresh coffee. Hang a chalkboard with a coffee menu to complete the look.

Recreate your favorite corner coffee house in your kitchen so friends and family can always share a cup of java comfortably without having to leave your kitchen. Comfortable chairs, colorful pendant lights and fancy equipment, such as your own espresso machine, can complement your coffee-themed kitchen. Set up a small table with a chess board top and a couple of comfortable chairs to encourage guests to sit, relax and stay awhile, invoking the same feeling you have when you frequent your favorite coffee shop.
