A wedding is an exciting and very important day in the life of the couple. While a wedding ceremony is often a serious affair during which two people vow to spend the rest of their lives together, that does not mean the ceremony cannot include some fun events.
Don't save the dancing for the reception. Incorporate some dancing moves and slick footwork into the actual wedding ceremony. Instead of simply walking down the aisle, try dancing down it. For a laid-back, fun affair, dancing down the aisle is a sure way to get the guests excited about the event and put a smile upon everyone's face. Some couples opt to share their first dance at the actual wedding ceremony, rather than waiting until the reception.
Many wedding ceremonies feature a reading performed by a member of the wedding party, another friend or family of the bride or groom. Rather than relying on overused passages, such as the familiar, "Love is patient, love is kind" from Corinthians 13:1-13, think outside of the box and read a fun, quirky piece. Children's books provide a fun way to express sentiments of love, support and other themes that are appropriate for weddings. For example, the bunnies in "Guess How Much I Love You" by Sam McBratney, playfully proving how much they love each other, will be touching for the couple and their guests.
Inject a fun song or two into the wedding ceremony. Before the couple exchanges vows, invite a musically inclined friend to perform an upbeat song that is perfect for a wedding. Whether its a soulful rendition of a Frank Sinatra tune or a guitar accompanied cover of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, a song will be a fun interlude to the ceremony.
Candle or Sand Ceremony
Many couples opt to do a fun, symbolic ceremony during their wedding that signifies their love one another and their marriage's integration of two into one. For a more traditional activity, couples partake in a unity candle ceremony. During this ceremony, the bride and the groom use two separate candles to light a larger candle. Alternatively, couples opting for something fun, colorful and a little different participate in a sand ceremony. Here, couples take turns pouring different colored sand into a glass container, making a beautiful blend of their two sands.
