Wedding Decorating Ideas for the Head Table
As soon as they step into the reception area, your guests will focus on the head table, where the newly married couple and their wedding party will sit. You can decorate the head table to coordinate with your wedding colors and theme.
-
Floral Centerpiece
-
Decorate your head table the same as the rest of the tables in the reception area. For the centerpiece, use the same flowers as the other tables, but create a more elaborate arrangement. For a long head table, align candles or champagne glasses down the table's length to create a sense of unity. To save money, use the same floral decorations you used for the ceremony or align the bridesmaid's bouquets down the length of the table.
Bride and Groom Chairs
-
Chair decorations are another must-have at the head table. Use tulle swags, ribbon or floral garland to decorate the bride and groom's chairs to stand out. Or use large plush chairs that resemble a king's and queen's thrones. Another option is to hang "Bride" and "Groom" decorative wooden signs or monogrammed ribbon sashes on the back of the chairs. Decorate the rest of the chairs with chair covers and long tulle bows.

Backdrops
-
Define and draw attention to the head table with a large decoration, such as a pearlescent floating balloon arch or a flower garland that complements the wedding flowers. Another option is to use tulle and twinkling miniature lights. A velvet drape or tall white pillars adds a dramatic touch to the room.
Head Table Favors
-
Distinguish the head table with wedding favors. Use small photo frames as placeholders as well as wedding keepsakes for the bridal party. Other favors include small tins of gourmet chocolate candies, a potpourri holder or a potted plant in a decorative container. Small gift baskets filled with fruit, candles, gourmet or chocolate mixes also work well.
