In recent years, children have become more computer- and tech-savvy. So, it is common for children to send and receive email greeting cards using their own email addresses. However, you can spend hours trying to find the most appropriate kid-friendly email greeting card. Many traditional card companies have a section of email greeting cards that are free. Some websites charge a small fee.

Blue Mountain is a national greeting card company that offers traditional cards, printable cards and email greeting cards. The first seven days are free when you join Blue Mountain online. After the seven-day trial period, the company charges $2.99 a month or $19.99 for a full year as of February 2011. It currently features the Karen Lyn Collection of eCards with animated characters and artwork similar to Charlie Brown. The Dave Collection from the Music Team has child-like email cards set with funky music and vibrant animation. In addition, the David Sommers Collection provides some card for kids with a fairytale feel.

Egreetings.com offers a section of email cards designed especially for kids. Unlike some email greeting card websites, you can view the most recent kid-friendly cards in one location. Some titles include "Online Cootie Catcher," "How You Be" and "Life's Not Fair." Select the card you want to email. Enter the sender's name and email address of the recipient. In addition, write a personalize message, preview the ecard and then send. Each Egreetings.com card is free to send.

Care2.com features a large selection of email greeting cards, including a section for kids. The "Earth to Kids" collection features eCards with artwork designed by children. Another collection is "Hippoworks" eCards, which also offers greeting cards with artwork drawn by children. In addition, Care2.com offers a host of other cards with pets, animals or about "The First Day of School." Sending a email card is free.

Hallmark is one of the oldest greeting card companies in the nation. The cards are situated in retail stores and online. In addition, it offers a wide selection of eCards, including ones for children. Some cards feature classic cartoon character, such as Snoopy, Dr. Seuss, WonderWoman and Mickey Mouse. Other cards are either about children's favorite holidays, such as Easter or Halloween. Designated cards are either free or by subscription only. A yearly subscription is $12 a month, as of February 2011.
