Wedding Shower Games & Questions for the Groom

Wedding Shower Games & Questions for the Groom thumbnail
Plan an assortment of games for a wedding shower.

Games are a fun part of a bridal shower and a great way to keep the party flowing. Mix up the games by including icebreakers, games that single out the bride, games that give guests a better idea of who her fiance is and one or two that last throughout the party. You can prepare some games in advance by asking the groom questions and using them to quiz the bride.

  1. Icebreaker

    • Two Truths & a Lie makes for a fun and simple icebreaker. Have each guest introduce herself and tell everyone three things about herself -- one a lie and the other two true. Have guests vote on which one they think was a lie, then let the guest confess. Encourage guests to tell stories that involve the bride (just don't let her vote). Depending on your guests, you may want to set a few rules at the beginning to avoid things becoming too risque.

    Bride vs. Groom

    • The Nearly-Wed Game asks the bride and groom questions about their relationship. Film the groom answering the same questions before the party. Once you've loaded the DVD, ask the bride a question. After she answers, play the clip to see whether their answers match. Repeat for each question. Depending on the shower guests, keep the questions fairly clean. Use simple questions; not everyone remembers the tiniest details, and you certainly don't want to embarrass a bride. Ask questions such as "Where was your first date?" or "What is his favorite food?"

    Bride vs. Groom

    • Vow Mad Libs requires the groom to show up at the end of the shower. Create two printouts of standard wedding vows, and then create blank spaces by taking out nouns, adjectives and verbs. Have one of the bridesmaids go around throughout the party and ask guests for a word to fill in the blanks. Then, at the end of the shower, have the groom show up and have the couple enact a mock wedding ceremony with their Mad Lib vows.

    All Day Game

    • Buy wedding-themed pins (such as flowers, bells and cake), and hand them out to guests as they arrive. Tell guests they cannot say certain words throughout the shower. Use three to five words, all wedding related, such as "bride," "wedding," "fiance," "groom" and "marriage." If one guest catches another guest saying the word, the offender must give up her pin. The guest with the most pins at the end of the shower wins a prize.

    Just the Bride

    • Perhaps one of the most familiar wedding shower games, Paper Bride splits guests into teams -- usually consisting of about three or four people. Teams have just a few minutes to create a wedding dress on their bride out of toilet paper. Once the time is up, make the faux brides do a fashion walk and have the bride choose her favorite model.
