  1. Take a Family Stroll on Shoal Creek

    • Debbie Fassino, one of Signal Mountain's most avid conservationists, leads a special family nature walk along Shoal Creek Road on a weekend around Halloween. Shoal Creek Road passes through a public park. Although public walks are held along the road often, the Halloween walk is special because children can enjoy playing on donated bales of hay, hearing volunteers read spooky stories and tasting holiday snacks. The fee to participate in the walk is a can of food for the Signal Mountain Social Services Food Pantry.

    Enjoy Fancy Halloween Cookies with Friends and Family

    • The Signal Mountain Cookie Lady (signalmountaincookielady.com) designs and sells a variety of lovely holiday cookies. For Halloween, she makes cookies shaped and frosted to look like bats, witches feet, witches hats, candy corn, black cats, jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, cauldrons, spiders and monsters. She also sell autumn-themed cookies shaped like falling leaves and pumpkins. One set of decorated cookies is will turn any October gathering into a festive Halloween party.

    Attend the Fox Run Halloween Party

    • Fox Run is a subdivision on Signal Mountain that hosts an annual neighborhood Halloween party. Kids, pets and adults enjoy visiting and sharing snacks outside on a dead end neighborhood street. Most kids and some adults come dressed in costumes. Some families decorate the outside of their homes with cobwebs and pumpkins for the occasion. At dusk, some campfires are lit in the street for all guests to enjoy.

    • Jay Casavant lives on Signal Mountain Boulevard in Signal Mountain. Since 1995, he has been setting up an annual Halloween display in his yard. The display started with just two strings of orange lights, but today visitors enjoy many lights, a cemetery, inflatables, cobwebs, a smoke machine, music and a maze. So many visitors have been delighted by Jay's display that the Town Council of Signal Mountain issued a resolution recognizing and commending him in 2010.

    Look for Ghosts

    • Although Signal Mountain appears fairly normal in the daytime, some residents have reported ghost sightings and other spooky incidents after dark. When going ghost hunting, head to cemeteries, creeks, old houses and battlefields. Venture also outside of Signal Mountain to nearby towns that have also reported ghosts, such as Whiteside, Hixson, Rossville, Fort Oglethorpe and Soddy Daisy.
