on 8/8/2006 Unify the color of the wall and any woodwork, such as doors, door trim. Use a light color that borrows from the color family of adjoining rooms. Paint the walls in matte paint, and any doors and woodwork with an eggshell or semi-gloss in the same tint. If using artwork on the walls, keep the frame colors light, and keep the art images of airy subject matter, not dark, contrasting ones.

on 3/15/2006 There are a lot of ways to make a small room look bigger. First of all, use a light, pastel color on the walls that will reflect light. On your windows, use sheer drapes and keep them open as much as possible. Put a mirror on the wall opposite the window to reflect more light into the room. the more light you reflect, the larger the room will look. You should also use floor lamps and tabletop lamps, because they make more light. Take advantage of the vertical space in your room. Instead of putting furniture that takes up floor space, put furniture that gives you a lot of room, but instead of being big they are tall. Also, try to put your bed opposite your door so that when you walk in you focus on the bed instead of the floor.

on 11/22/2005 Try hanging a mirror in empty spaces or an unused wall. By doing that you are filling the empty area with something interesting, and creating the illusion of space.
