    Easy Cleanup for Spills

  1. Step 1

    Gather your ingredients: a tablespoon or two salt, a tablespoon or two baking soda, and a little bit of water.

  2. Step 2

    With a sponge, squeeze water directly onto the spill in a warm oven.

  3. Step 3

    Cover the spill with a thin layer of salt.

  4. Step 4

    Let the spill stand until the oven cools.

  5. Step 5

    Scrape away the mess.

  6. Step 6

    Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on any stains that remain.

  7. Step 7

    Let the baking soda soak in.

  8. Step 8

    Scrub with 000 or 0000 steel wool (available at hardware stores).

  9. Step 9

    Wipe off the residue with a paper towel or a sponge.

  10. Easy General Oven Cleaning

  11. Step 1

    Pour 1/2 cup ammonia into a small glass bowl.

  12. Step 2

    Place the bowl in a cool oven.

  13. Step 3

    Close the oven door.

  14. Step 4

    Leave the bowl in the oven overnight to let the ammonia fumes do their work.

    Wipe up the dirt the next day with paper towels or a sponge.

    Rub tougher spots gently with 000 or 0000 steel wool.

  17. Step 7

    Rinse the residue with warm, sudsy water.

  18. Step 8

    Repeat steps if necessary.

  19. Cleaning Really Greasy Ovens

  20. Step 1

    Pour 1/2 cup vinegar into a small bowl.

  21. Step 2

    Add 1/2 cup hot water.

  22. Step 3

    Rub away greasy stains with a sponge or washcloth soaked in this solution.
