Satin is a soft, elegant fabric that’s easy to clean. Many wedding gowns are made of satin, and although it’s a popular choice among brides, it wrinkles easily. If your vintage satin wedding dress becomes wrinkled, don’t let it ruin your big day. There’s no need to head to the pros for help. Smooth out the fabric before you walk down the aisle with some quick home remedies.

Step 1

Lay bath towels on the floor of a bathroom so the majority of the surface is covered. Turn the shower on to hot and let it run for several minutes until the room is filled with steam.

Step 2

Hang your wedding dress on a padded hanger. Turn off the water and hang the dress on a hook in the bathroom or on the back of the door.

Step 3

Wrap a clean, dry, white towel around your arm. Rub the towel along the fabric to smooth out the wrinkles. Continue doing this until all the wrinkles are gone. Leave the gown hanging in the steamy bathroom for a while longer if any stubborn wrinkles remain and then smooth them out again with the towel.

Step 4

Apply low heat from a hair dryer or hand-held steamer to any stubborn wrinkles that remain. Hold the hair dryer or steamer several inches away from the fabric to avoid causing damage. Run the towel over the affected areas to smooth out any remaining wrinkles.
