Place the flannel fabric on the cutting mat. Measure and cut an 11-inch by 14-inch rectangle (newborn), 13-inch by 19-inch rectangle (baby) or 17-inch by 19-inch rectangle (toddler). Cut an identical rectangle from the terrycloth. Cut a 5-inch by 14-inch (newborn), 7-inch by 19-inch (baby) or 13-inch by 19-inch (toddler) rectangle from the terrycloth also.

2
Lay out the flannel rectangle with the wrong side facing up. Place the larger terrycloth rectangle over the flannel with the right side facing up, aligning the corners and edges.

3
Serge around the outside edges of the two rectangles, if possible. If you do not have a serger, sew a wide zigzag stitch around the outside edges. Serge or zigzag around the smaller terrycloth rectangle also.
-
4
Lay the large rectangle of fabric on a flat surface with the terrycloth facing up. Place the smaller rectangle on the larger one, centering it between the two long edges and aligning the top and bottom edges perfectly. Pin the smaller rectangle in place.
-
5
Zigzag around the smaller rectangle to stitch it to the larger rectangle. Remove the pins.
