Christmas Tree Made of a Foam Cone & Bite Size Candy Bars

The decorations you choose for your home during the Christmas season represent your personal style and creativity. If you want to highlight Christmas trees in your décor, create a tree made of a foam cone and bite-size candy bars. Use this crafty decoration as a centerpiece in your home, or make one for a one-of-a-kind gift for a teacher. A few materials from the craft and candy stores are all you need to create this delicious-looking adornment.

Things You'll Need

  • Large craft foam ball
  • Utility knife
  • Scissors
  • Green felt (1 square foot)
  • Dowel (12-inch)
  • Gold paint pen
  • Medium craft foam cone
  • Silver wrapping paper
  • Tape
  • Box of wooden toothpicks
  • Bags (3) of individually wrapped, bite-size candy bars
  • Hot glue gun
  • Cut the large craft foam ball in half with the utility knife to make the tree base. Discard one piece of foam.

  • Cut a small slit in the middle of the piece of green felt. Cover the half circle with the fabric to make the tree skirt. Discard the other piece of foam.

  • Stick one end of the 12-inch dowel through the slit in the green felt and into the tree base. Paint four inches of the dowel with the gold paint pen.

  • Wrap the craft foam cone with the silver wrapping paper. Secure the paper with tape.

  • Press the center of the base of the foam cone onto the unpainted portion of the dowel.

  • Break several toothpicks in half. Stick one of the toothpicks into the back of one piece of candy, toward the top of the wrapper. Stick the other end of the toothpick into the foam cone, half an inch from the bottom of the cone. Continue to attach a piece of candy in this manner to complete the bottom row.

  • Create the second row above the first row. Heat the hot glue gun to low. Glue the flat portion at the end of the wrapper to the cone so that half the candy bar just overlaps the first row. Continue to attach the candy bars to complete the second row.

  • Repeat Step 7 until you reach the top of the cone.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can glue a few pieces of bite size candy to the tree skirt for presents.
  • Do not consume this candy, as it is for decorating purposes only. The toothpicks in the first row of candies will expose the candy bars to air.
