DIY Yarn Flower Headband
Create fanciful yarn flower headbands without learning crochet techniques. These DIY yarn flowers go together so quickly that you can fill a headband with flowers in less than one hour. Making yarn flowers is one way to use up the remaining skein of yarn from your last project. Alternate colors and types of yarn to give each flower a distinctive look; stiffen the yarn flowers with fabric stiffener or dip the tips in glitter glue to enhance the appeal of your headband.

3
Wrap the 4-foot long strand of yarn around four fingers eight times. Cut the yarn from the spool and remove the large loop from your hand.
-
4
Cut a 6-inch long strip of floral wire. Bend the wire in half.
-
5
Squeeze the small, center-of-the flower loop together in the middle to form a figure eight. Fit the bend in the wire over the center of the loop.
-
6
Squeeze the larger, petals-of-the flower loop in the center to form a figure eight. Slide the center of the figure eight between the wire strands to rest behind the small loop. Twist the wire to hold the yarn together.
-
7
Cover the wire stem with floral tape. Bend the stem to lie flush against the base of the yarn flower. Cut the excess wire stem. Cut the ends of the petal yarn to shape it as you like for the flower. Fluff the yarn to shape the flower.
-
8
Follow the process to make one to five yarn flowers for the headband. Glue the base of the yarn flowers across the top of a fabric, metal or plastic headband form with a hot glue gun. You can also bunch the flowers in a center or side grouping on the headband.
