How to Decorate Curved Walls

Decorating a home with unique architectural style can present its own set of challenges. Unusual features, such as curved walls, can be difficult to decorate. With a round shape, curved walls can't be adorned with the typical pieces of flat decor, such as pictures or framed artwork. However, creative decorating options allow curved walls to become tastefully decorated with items that are readily available.

Things You'll Need

  • Wall decals
  • Paint
  • Thin wall hangings
  • Nails
  • Hammer
  • Paintbrush
  • Paint the wall in a color that matches the decor of the rest of the room. Bright colors will make a wall stand out in a room, while darker colors will help make the curvature of the wall appear less severe.

  • Select a decal to apply to the wall. Choose a decal that fits in with the decor of the room and stands out against the color of the wall. Wipe down the area of the wall that the decal will be applied to with a lint-free cloth to prepare a clean, dry surface. Work with a partner to place the decal on the wall in the desired location. Firmly press on the backing paper to adhere the decal to the wall, wiping along the shape of the decal. Gently peel the backing paper from the decal to reveal the final application.

  • Choose a series of wall hangings or artwork that have a relatively thin width. Hammer a nail into the wall at the point you will be hanging the art from. Hang the art on the wall, placing multiple pieces in sequential order. Thin artwork, picture frames or pieces of wall art like crosses will hang securely from curved walls and add personalized decoration with minimal effort.
