How to Get Rid of the Smell in a Sobakawa Cloud Pillow

Save

Seen on late night infomercials, Sobakawa Cloud Pillows contains polystyrene foam. Over time, it is not uncommon for the Sobakawa Cloud Pillow to become dirty and smelly. Oil from your skin and hair will quickly turn your cloud pillow into a stinky mess. Since the pillow contains foam, you cannot simply toss it in the washing machine to remove the odor. Fortunately, several household items will remove the odor and freshen your Sobakawa Cloud Pillow.

Things You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • Baking soda
  • Commercial odor eliminator for fabric
  • Remove the pillow cover from the Sobakawa Cloud Pillow and launder as you normally would. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove unpleasant odors from the pillowcase.

  • Pour undiluted white vinegar in a clean spray bottle. Mist the foam pillow with the vinegar and let dry for several hours. Flip the pillow over, mist the other side in the same manner and let dry for several hours.

  • Lay the dried Sobakawa Cloud Pillow on a flat surface and sprinkle baking soda over it. Let the pillow sit for several hours before flipping it over and repeating the process on the other side. Hold the pillow over a trashcan or take it outside and shake the excess baking soda off the foam.

  • Spray a commercial odor eliminator for fabric surfaces on both sides of the Sobakawa Cloud Pillow and let it dry outside on a warm day out of direct sunlight.
