A coverlet not only makes for comfortable sleeping arrangements, there are many styles and designs to choose from to enhance the look of the room. Coverlets come in materials like cotton, silk or even satin, and there are styles that feature embroidery or other ornate designs to give the bed a look of luxury. Whether you want to make the bed with a casual coverlet made of cotton or bamboo or use a richer fabric like velvet or satin, there are simple steps to give it a finished look.
Things You'll Need
- Bed skirt
- Fitted sheet
- Flat sheet
Place a bed skirt under the mattress if desired. A bed skirt is optional for the look of the bed, but gives the bed a clean and finished appearance and complements the rest of the bedding.
Spread a fitted sheet and flat sheet over the mattress and smooth out.
Lay the coverlet across the entire bed. If you have a plain coverlet and want to dress it up, fold a duvet or throw blanket in half or thirds and lay it across the end of the bed.
Place sleeping pillows flat on the bed against the headboard. Insert large pillows into shams that complement the coverlet or match it and place them against the sleeping pillows, standing them upright. Insert another set of standard pillows into the decorative shams that contrast or complement the larger shams and place them in front.
