Measure from the top of the bride's head to the tips of her fingers to determine the length of tulle you need to buy. Buy a little extra in case you make a mistake cutting.

2
Create the style of veil you want using tissue paper. It is only necessary to design one side of the veil. Fold the tulle in half and use the tissue paper as a pattern to cut the tulle. Cut the fabric with a rotary cutter on a rotary cutting mat. When cut and unfolded, the veil will be symmetrical.

Tips & Warnings
For a narrow veil, use 45-inch to 72-inch tulle. For a full veil with lots of gathers, use 108-inch tulle.
Find rotary cutters and mats where quilting supplies are sold.
If you want the veil to be removable without changing the hairstyle, attach the veil to the hair comb with Velcro.
When working with tulle, use weights to hold the fabric flat and in place. Drinking glasses, soup cans or heavy coasters work well.
To get the wrinkles out of the tulle or finished veil, hang the fabric or veil in a hot, steamy bathroom for a few minutes.
Rotary cutters are deceptively sharp. Always return the blade to the safe position when not in use.
Do not use newspaper for the veil pattern or to cover the flat surface for attaching embellishments. The newsprint will stain the fabric.
