Cleaning Flat Panel Monitors

Cleaning Flat Panel Monitors thumbnail
Proper cleaning techniques can keep your flat panel monitor displaying clear images longer.

A flat panel monitor can provide significantly better picture quality than old CRT, or cathode ray tube, monitors. Because flat panel screens are more sensitive, they require a soft touch when cleaning. Flat panel monitor owners can keep their hardware free of dirt and dust by following these steps.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Rub the flat panel monitor with a soft cloth. Move horizontally along the length of the monitor, beginning at the top, until the entire surface is free of dust and dirt.

    • 2

Dab your cloth in a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol.

    • 3

Rub the monitor horizontally a second time. Rub the computer again with the dry side of the cloth to remove any lingering alcohol residue.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never use a paper towel to clean a flat panel monitor. Always apply isopropyl alcohol to the cloth you are using, never directly on the monitor.
