How to Use a Bissell Big Green Clean Machine

Save

According to the Owner's Manual, the Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaner is capable of cleaning multiple surfaces such as carpet, hard floors and upholstery. However, one limitation of the device is hardwood flooring. Due to the agitators, the Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaner will damage the wood. Although the process for cleaning carpet, flooring and upholstery is slightly different, you will find that each process is relatively straightforward. However, familiarize yourself with the parts of the cleaner as you assemble it so you understand the terminology used in this guide.

Things You'll Need

  • Bissell carpet cleaner
  • Bissell floor cleaner

Deep Clean Carpets

  • Vacuum the floors. If possible, use a standard vacuum for this task. However, if you must use the Big Green Machine to complete the dry vacuuming, pull the dry filter bag over the ball cage. Catch the filter bag on the lip of the cage to hold it in place. Place the ball on the raised area at the bottom of the tank and position the ball cage over the ball and press firmly onto the raised area. Remove the wand clips and the floor nozzle from the wand. Attach one of the four dry vacuum attachments, insert the siphon tube into the tank, turn on the unit and vacuum as normal. Empty the tank once completed and restore all of the components back to normal.

  • Remove the dry filter from the cage if you have not already done so.

  • Remove the concentrate filler cup form the side of the filler cavity located on the side of the Big Green Machine.

  • Place two gallons of hot tap water into the filler cavity. When completed, the water should touch the three lines on the side of the cavity.

  • Fill the measuring cup with Bissell Carpet Care to the 10-ounce mark on the cup. Pour the cleaner into the filler cavity and secure the measuring lid to the top of the filler cavity.

  • Turn on the vacuum pump and the power spray switches. This arms the machine. It is now ready to use.

  • Push the cleaner away from you at arm's length. Pull the trigger to start the spraying action as you pull the cleaner towards you. Release the trigger and vacuum until you remove all of the cleaner from the floor.

  • Repeat the process in 3-by-4-foot sections until the entire floor is clean.

  • Fill the measuring cup with Bissell Floor Care to the 10-ounce mark on the cup. Never use carpet care cleaner. It is not formulated to work with flooring.

Clean in a manner that gives you a path out of the room. Do not clean yourself into a corner. Wait at least 30 minutes before walking on the floor again.

Tips & Warnings

  • During the process, your holding tank will fill up. To empty it, turn off the pump spray and suction switches and disconnect the power. Remove the tank siphon tube, flip down the carrying handle and lift the top power unit off the cleaner. Pour the tank into a toilet. After draining, replace the power unit and refill the filler cavity.
