How to Make a Replacement Fabric String Mop Head
When your string mop head is too old or dirty to efficiently clean your floors, you need to replace it. Making your own fabric string mop head is a simple process, and will help you use up old fabric scraps. Once you create the mop head, you can attach it to the old mop handle whether it has a clip or not. Does this Spark an idea?

Cut your fabric scraps into strips that are 1 foot long and 2 inches wide with a pair of fabric scissors. As you cut the strips, lay them together in a bunch with the ends meeting until you have a pile of strips the size of the mop head you want.

Grasp the pile of fabric strips 4 inches from the top and secure them together by placing a rubber band at the 4-inch mark.

Cover the end of the mop clip on your handle with an old sock so you do not scratch the floor. Open the mop clip and insert the 4-inch end of the fabric mop head as far as it will go, then close the covered clip over the fabric to hold it in place.

Cover the end of your mop handle with a sock, even if it does not have a clip. Insert the handle end into the middle of the bunched fabric strips until you meet the rubber band. Secure the fabric mop head to the handle with another rubber band.
