How to Get Rid of Mold Smells on a Mattress With Febreze

Offensive mattress odors can cause you to lose sleep.

Febreze Fabric Refresher Spray comes in many different scents designed to neutralize odors in your home. The spray works to remove odors from fabrics, upholstery and even mattresses. If a mattress was stored in an area with high humidity, mold may appear on the mattress surface. After cleaning the mold, you may be left with an offensive mold odor on the mattress. You can attempt to get rid of it by using Febreze Fabric Refresher Spray.

Instructions

1. Hold the bottle of Febreze approximately 6 to 18 inches from the surface of the mattress.

2. Spray a light mist of the Febreze over the entire surface.

3. Allow the Febreze to dry for approximately 30 minutes.

4. Sniff the mattress to see if you can still detect the mold odor. If you can, repeat the method. It is better to use two to three light coats of Febreze than to saturate the mattress.

5. Allow the mattress to dry completely before putting on sheets and other bedding.

Tips & Warnings

• Clean any evidence of mold from your mattress before treating it with Febreze. Sweep the mattress with a broom to remove the mold, and then vacuum the mattress surface thoroughly. Use a heater, sunshine or fan to dry the mattress completely before attempting to remove the foul odor.
