Instructions

    • 1

Make sure that the natural hair has been completely flattened. You can do this by plaiting the hair into fine braids and placing a wig cap over it.

    • 2

Take a measuring tape and measure the head from the front hair line to the back line. The full circumference of the head, and the from ear to ear.

    • 3

Make a base for the wig. Use the measurements you have just taken, place cotton ribbons over a wig block to fit the specified measurements.

    • 4

Take a wet fine cotton lace and put on the wig block, mould it with your hands. Put the nylon lace on top of the wet cotton lace, again shape it and mould it to the block.

    • 5

Take the needle and thread and sew the foundation of the lace wig together. You can use a sewing machine if you would rather not hand sew.

    • 6

Choose the desired hair, you need to be aware that you do not need hair that has tracks attached to it. A good hair to use for this is, Remy hair.

    • 7

Use a hackle to separate the hair, push the hair through the hackle three or four times. Put the hair flat on a table between two drawing mats.

    • 8

Take the wig foundation, and use a ventilating needle to push the hair through the lace one strand at a time. You have to knot each strand, similar to how you would knot when constructing a rug.

    • 9

Start from the base of the neck and add the hair row by row, strand by strand. You are going to be using single knots for the lace section of the wig. Where the cotton ribbons are, knot the hair twice. Place the hair in various directions to give it a natural look.

    • 10

Make the part of the hair, and the middle section -- which is called the whirl. Now, turn the wig inside out and add single strands of hair to the outside edges of the wig.

    • 11

You can now cut the hair to the desired style.
