The Singer Pixie Plus, despite its small size, is quite similar to larger sewing machines in its complex functionality. Its predecessor, the Singer Pixie, is no longer in production and was intended for use in small crafts only. However, the Singer Pixie Plus features a sturdier design ideal for use in both craft projects and regular sewing. The main difference between the Singer Pixie Plus and larger machines is easier function accessibility, which is especially helpful for learning to use different types of stitches. The Singer Pixie Plus can be especially positive for people experimenting with sewing for the first time, and it works the same as the Pixie.

Things You'll Need:

  • Scissors
  • Machine Needle
  • Pre-Wound Bobbin
  • Fabric
  • Spool Of Thread

Plug the machine's electrical cord into a wall outlet. Do not turn the machine on yet. Place the pedal on the floor.

Loosen the screw located at the right of the needle shaft. Place the needle into the shaft with the sharp point facing downward, then tighten the screw to hold the needle in place.

Locate the large adjustment wheel on your right. Turn the wheel toward you until you have lifted the needle completely. Lift the presser foot lever, which is located behind the needle shaft.

Place the spool of thread on the spool pin at the top right corner in back of the machine. Guide thread through each of the threading points, which are clearly marked with small arrows. Place the end of the thread through the hole in the needle and pull gently until about 5 inches' worth has passed through.

Open the bobbin case, which is located in a compartment below the needle. Place the wound bobbin inside, then close the bobbin case.

Flip the "on" switch.

Flip the speed switch at the bottom right of the machine to select fast or slow. For delicate fabrics, choose slow. For less delicate fabrics, fast may be a good option.

Turn the front center adjuster knob to select from the eight stitches shown at the front right of the machine.

Place fabric underneath the needle to the left. Use the guides below the needle to determine the appropriate seam allowance, then align the fabric accordingly. Lower the presser foot.

Turn the large adjuster knob on your right to lower the needle so that it goes through the fabric. Turn the knob until the needle rises and the top thread has caught the bobbin thread.

Place your foot on the pedal and apply gentle pressure. Use your hands to guide the fabric under the needle, being careful not to push or pull.

Press the reverse lever located at the lower right of the machine front to create a backstitch. Remove pressure from the lever to return to forward stitching.

Remove your foot from the pedal. Lift the presser foot lever. Cut top and bottom threads with scissors, then remove fabric.
