You can even use fruit as part of your party centerpiece.

Party centerpieces become a focal point for tables at a party or celebration. Often you may require several party centerpieces. Creating eye-catching party centerpieces takes imagination and creativity. While a party-centerpiece can be expensive, especially if you have them professionally designed, you can create your own party centerpieces by considering the theme and reason for your celebration and using inexpensive items to create something unique and special.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase inexpensive candles at a dollar store or check out your own stash of partially burned candles. Pillar candles burn down until the flame is not discernible. Use these candles as part of your party centerpieces. Purchase inexpensive small or tea candles that fit inside your more colorful pillar candles. Group several large candles together alternating height and width. If the party takes place during warmer months, use flowers and other greenery around the candles to match the color scheme. If the celebration is in the colder months, such as for Christmas or Valentine's Day, use red confetti, large bows and candy canes to create memorable party centerpieces with leftover pillar candles.

Ask friends to lend you potted plants and add your own to be used as the basis for one-of-a-kind party centerpieces. Make sure the plants are in pots that won't leak and are watered and ready to be used as the key element in your party centerpieces. Wrap the plant pots in foil with the top edges folding over away from the pot, almost like an open flower. Add ribbon and a bow to the pot in the colors chosen for your party.

Design your centerpieces around stuffed animals. Many women are given stuffed animals for Valentine's Day and on other occasions. Children usually have toy boxes overflowing with stuffed animals. If the party celebrates Valentine's Day look for animals with red fur, red hearts or ribbon. You can also tie red ribbons around more stately brown stuffed animals. For a spring or Easter celebration add pastel yellow, green and blue ribbons. Tuck Easter eggs or crosses in the artificial grass you use around the stuffed animals.

Look in your cupboards for glasses and bottles in different shapes, sizes and colors. You can also check out the local thrift store. Add candles to one or two shorter glasses or bottles in each party centerpiece and either fresh flowers from your garden, or artificial ones to the rest of the arrangement. Place each centerpiece arrangement on an inexpensive tray and add a colorful bow.

Start with small vases or tall thin glasses. Fill with petals, potpourri or smooth colorful stones. Add a single flower in the color chosen for your celebration. You can also add a ribbon around the top of the vase or glass.

Create fruit baskets. Fill with a mixture of apples, bananas, oranges and unshelled nuts or other fruit you purchase by the bag. Add a ribbon and bow around the basket. You can use the baskets as gifts to those honored at the celebration.
