However, the changing of printing cartridges can often be a messy process, causing spills or drips on the surrounding area and floor. If printer ink gets on carpet, it can be difficult to clean up, but it is possible to remove the ink with some scrubbing and basic items that can be purchased at most grocery stores or hardware supply stores. Things You'll Need

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Toothpaste
  • Nail polish remover
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Clean cloth(s)

Instructions

      Blot up as much of the ink stain as possible with towels that you don't mind staining. Try to blot up the stain as quickly as possible.

      Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a clean cloth and blot the ink stain. Dab at the spot but do not rub, as this may force the ink further into the carpet. Allow to dry. Repeat until the ink stain is gone.

      Dab the ink stain with a clean, damp cloth if ink remains on the carpet. Pour a small amount of nail polish remover to a clean cloth and blot the stain.

      Apply some plain white toothpaste to the stain if there is still ink in the carpet. Let the toothpaste dry and then vacuum up.

      Create a paste from lemon juice and salt if the carpet is white, as the lemon juice will create a bleaching action. Apply the paste to the stain and allow it to dry. Vacuum the area once dry.
