How to Remove Grease Odors From Laundry

French fries and potato chips are so tasty, but they contain a fair amount of grease. This grease gets on your fingers while you eat, and can end up on your clothing if you are not careful. Grease has a specific odor that will remain on your laundry if you don't treat the grease spots before tossing the clothing in your washing machine.

Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Laundry detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Hairspray (optional)
  • Mix one tsp. baking soda with three drops of dish soap to form a paste. Rub the paste over the grease spots on your laundry.

  • Fill up the washing machine and add your normal amount of laundry detergent. Toss in the laundry with the grease odors.

  • Open the washing machine just as the rinse cycle is about to begin. Add one cup of white distilled vinegar. Vinegar has the power to eliminate any strong odors, such as grease.

  • Hang the laundry out to dry in the sun. The sun has oxidizing powers that also help to remove any traces of bad odor that remain on the laundry.
