How to Arrange Pillows on a King-Size Bed

Arranging pillows is an easy task.

A king-size bed becomes the main focal point in a bedroom. Throwing pillows on the bed without taking into consideration where to place them results in a messy look. Arranging pillows on the bed can accentuate the style and décor of your room. Learning how to place them for an elegant effect is easy.

Things You'll Need

• Euro pillows
• Standard pillows
• Decorative pillows
• Neck bolster(s)

Instructions

1. Lay four European pillows flat against your headboard. "Euro" pillows are larger than standard pillows; they are usually 24 to 26 inches square. Choose neutral colors, such as white or tan.

2. Place two standard-size pillows flat against the Euro pillows. Place them in the center of the back layer. Choose standard pillows in the same shades as the Euro pillows.

3. Lay smaller, decorative pillows flat up against the layer of standard ones. Choose decorative pillows in accent colors or with patterns that will complement the bedding and color scheme of the room. You could also lay the decorative pillows at different angles to add variation to the arrangement or fan the pillows out to the side.

4. Place a bolster or neck pillow in front of the decorative layer, if desired. Set it in front of the arrangement or use two bolsters and place one on either side of the bed against the pillows.

Tips & Warnings

• If the pillowcases on your standard pillows do not match the Euro pillows or your bed spread, place pillow shams or wraps around them that are of a matching color.
