Silver candle holders can add a classy touch to your home. However, it's easy for these candle holders to accumulate wax from dripping candles. Candle holders that are covered in wax stains don't look very elegant. Fortunately, you can remove the wax from silver candle holders fairly easily. With the use of inexpensive household products, you can clean your silver candle holders and return them to their original shine.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Salt
  • Baking soda
  • Aluminum foil
  • Pan
  • Pot
  • Cloth
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste

Wet a cloth with hot water and gently rub the candle holders to soften and remove the wax. This may take a while if the holders have intricate patterns. You may have to rewet the cloth several times.

Apply a dab of toothpaste to a toothbrush and brush the candle holders to shine them. Rinse well with cool water.

Place the candlesticks in a pan that is lined with aluminum foil.

Boil enough water to cover the holders, and add 1 tsp. of salt and 1 tsp. of baking soda to the water.

Pour the boiling water over the candlesticks to remove any tarnish.

Pat the candlesticks dry.
