The suede material of Uggs can be a tough material to clean.

Ugg boots are a popular upscale brand of suede boots that are normally worn during cold months to keep feet warm. Many people also wear them around the house because they have a soft inner lining that pampers feet. Salt can get on your Ugg boots and leave unwanted stains on the suede, so removing salt from Ugg boots is important in maintaining their look and feel. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Shake Ugg boots to help dislodge any salt grains and gently wipe away any salt stuck to the suede with a suede brush. Brush in one direction in light strokes to prevent compromising the finish of the material.

    • 2

Mix the detergent with cold water in a sink for about a minute or until the detergent is completely mixed into the water.

    • 3

Dampen the rag with your detergent-and-water mixture and wring it out so it doesn't drip.

    • 4

Press down with the rag on the salt stains to try to dissolve and bring up salt. Continue blotting gently until the area is dampened with your mixture and salt comes out or dissolves. Allow the area to dry. Repeat the blotting technique with the mixture as needed until the stain is gone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Spray Uggs with suede protectant spray to keep salt and salt stains, along with other types of stains, from getting onto your boots.

  • Always let Uggs air dry in a shaded area that is at room temperature.

  • Never use a blow-dryer, sunlight or any other heat-infused method for drying.

  • Never scrub or rub Uggs hard to remove stains; this will damage the suede.
