How to Remove Permanent Marker From Suede

You can remove marker stains from suede with a few household items.

A suede jacket is definitely a haute couture addition to any wardrobe. But when suede becomes stained, it becomes a little less fashionable and a little more of a headache. Because suede is a sensitive material, it cannot typically be cleaned using normal methods. This often leads suede owners to spend even more money having suede clothing professionally cleaned. However, when it comes to permanent marker stains, suede owners can try a variety of do-it-yourself methods to remove the stain.

Things You'll Need

• Rubbing alcohol
• Cotton swab
• White rubber eraser
• Emery board
• Hairspray

Instructions

1. Dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton swab.

2. Rub the marker stain with the swab until the stain fades or disappears entirely.

3. Coat the stain with hairspray and wipe away the excess with a cloth if the stain is still visible after the rubbing alcohol treatment.

4. Rub away the stain with a white eraser. Use an emery board to gently sand off the stain from the suede if the eraser does not work.
