When decorating your baby’s nursery, you can choose from a number of themes and styles. You can choose a gender-specific theme, such as football for a little boy or princesses for a little girl. You can choose a color theme, such as green or purple. One decoration that is universal, despite the theme you choose, is wooden nursery letters. No matter what you wish to spell on your nursery wall, you can hang your nursery letters using ribbon.
Things You'll Need
- Wooden letters
- Hot glue
Decorate your letters. Wooden letters can come painted or unfinished. Use paint or wood stain or leave them unfinished. Use craft paints, buttons or glitter to decorate them with patterns and designs. Allow any decorations to dry completely.
Lay the letters out on a flat work surface. Move the letters around until you determine a placement you like. You can stagger the letters or leave them all in a straight line.
Use a ruler or measuring tape to determine the spacing between your letters on your work space. Record these measurements. This will help you recreate your placement on the wall.
Cut one length of ribbon for each letter. The length of the ribbon is up to you. You can use any ribbon you would like that matches your nursery theme.
Apply a touch of hot glue to the two ends of each ribbon. Press the hot glued ribbon against the back of the letters. Place the ends of the ribbon on the tops of the letters at the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions. Allow the glue to cool and harden. Lift the letters by the ribbon to check for stability. Depending on the style of letters you bought, the hot glue may not be strong enough to support the weight. If you find that the ribbon and glue are not strong enough to hold the letters, hammer a small nail through the ribbon and hot glue into the wood of the letter.
Hammer one nail into the wall for every letter you want to hang. Space the letters according to the measurements and letter layout you chose in Step 3.
Hang your letters from the nails in the wall using the attached ribbon.
