Honey wax is typically found in do-it-yourself hair removal kits. These kits are relatively inexpensive and are available at drug stores and beauty centers. Even though honey wax hair removal kits are easy to use, the wax can be quite messy. It can drip and splatter onto unintended surfaces. Like other types of wax, honey wax dries quickly and can be difficult to remove.
Things You'll Need
- Butter knife
- Hair dryer
- Plastic paint scraper
- Dryer sheet
- Dry-cleaning solvent
- White towel
Scrape the honey wax off the hard surface with the back of a butter knife.
Set a hair dryer on a low or medium setting. Hold the dryer a few inches above the wax. Turn the dryer on, and move it in a back-and-forth motion. The heat from the hair dryer will soften the wax, making removal easier.
Scrape the softened wax off the hard surface using a plastic paint scraper. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have removed all the honey wax.
Rub the hard surface with a dryer sheet to remove any remaining pieces of wax.
Carpets and Upholstery
Scrape the hardened honey wax from the carpet or upholstery with the back of a butter knife.
Dampen a cloth in dry-cleaning solvent, and blot the area. Preheat an iron set on a low heat setting.
Place a white towel directly over the honey wax. Rub the preheated iron over the towel for several passes. Examine the wax by lifting the towel. If wax is still present, lay the towel back down and continue rubbing with the iron.
Blot the area with the cloth dampened with dry-cleaning solvent. Allow the carpet or upholstery to air-dry.
