How to Arrange a Farewell Party by Invitation
Put a spin on traditional arrangements for a farewell party by delegating the details in your invitations. Spread out the workload and the expense to your guests, allowing every invitee to contribute to the honoree's farewell bash. Give yourself time to make all of the arrangements and to keep guests on track as the party time approaches. Include requests for supplies as well as information on chores that need to be completed to make the party a success. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Gather a consensus among friends and family for the type of party you want to hold and the food you want to serve. Let potential invitees know you will send invitations with each guest's contribution noted.
-
2
Make a list of all of the party supplies you will need. List food and drink supplies, which may include party trays, beer, wine and soda. Include decorations such as candles and streamers. Ask a number of invited guests to bring music selections, which should make for an entertaining playlist.

3
Serve a buffet-style potluck dinner. The website FondFarewell suggests keeping foods simple to allow for more interaction with the guest of honor. Guests can mingle with the honoree while waiting in line and nobody will be kept busy either cooking and serving. Use your invitations to ask invitees to bring appetizers, salads, bread, main dishes, side dishes or desserts. Assign the food categories evenly throughout the guest list.
-
4
Write a list upon which you match each guest with an equal contribution. Decide upon appropriate contributions by evaluating the cost and effort of each. Include chores, such as helping to decorate the area, cooking, liaising with a DJ and cleanup. Add one party responsibility to each individual invitation.
-
5
Extend the invitations with the "to do and bring" list. Individualize each invitation to accommodate specific requests. Your invitation might read:
Dear Tamara
Billy Wyler is leaving us
To live his life in France
Gather around to tell him
We'll miss him when he's gone
At 8:00 PM
On Saturday, December 12
At 1111 Ridgeway Lane
Please bring a fruit tray or fruit salad and stay to help clean up.
Bring one or two music CDs to help create the party playlist
