How to Anchor Bobby Pins
Bobby pins, also known as hair pins, are useful when styling your hair. Bobby pins can be used on short, medium and long hair to craft a variety of hair styles, or for pulling loose hair from your face. Metal and plastic bobby pins are common, although hairstylists prefer metal bobby pins, especially for more complex styles. Often, using just one bobby pin to secure a section of hair is inadequate. Anchoring the bobby pin with another bobby pin is very important to prevent slippage. Does this Spark an idea?

Select the hairstyle you would like to have. After you have determined your preferred style, set out the requisite amount of bobby pins. There is, of course, no specific number of bobby pins for any preferred style. However, long hair and complicated hairstyles, such as buns, braids and chignons, require more pins.

Complete the hairstyle you chose, using the bobby pins to secure strands of hair as necessary. For instance, if you have chosen to complete a bun, place bobby pins around the base of the bun to hold the hair in a twist.

Anchor bobby pins in your hair using new bobby pins. Place the bobby pins perpendicular to one another, so that they form an "x" shape. This shape will ensure that they do not slip. Properly anchored pins will hold your hair tightly and provide great style throughout the day.
