How to Clean a Whirlpool Washing Machine Lint Filter

The Whirlpool Company is well known for its home appliances, including dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, plus clothes washers and dryers. Most Whirlpool clothes washers contain a filter that captures lint and other debris that are separated from materials in the washer drum. Cleaning the filter on a regular basis can help ensure the washer functions well, and should be performed every three to six months. Cleaning the lint filter in a Whirlpool clothes washer is a fairly simple operation.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Dishwashing liquid

Instructions

1. Locate the filter near the top of the tub on top loading washers, or near the bottom front on front loading washers.

2. Slide out the filter. Rinse it well in water. If the filter is very dirty, use a few drops of dishwashing liquid and warm water. Rinse it thoroughly.

3. Slide the filter back into the slot inside the clothes washer.

4. Proceed as usual to operate the Whirlpool washer.
